Finish it up Friday ....

So I am linking up to Finish it up Friday today over at Crazy Mom Quilts.  I love seeing what other people have been up to and try to play along each week.

I have literally just finished this off and popped it in the post.  This is my piece for my local Quilting Club Challenge - the theme was Secret Valentine.

The heart block was made from this tutorial and it finished at 12".  It's the second time I have made it and really enjoy it.   There is another heart mini quilt almost finished which I will be keeping for my studio wall!  This is also another tick off my 2016FAL list.

I have also started to receive heart blocks.  I have recently become a co-ordinator for Project Linus in Warwickshire and on 01 February I put out a call for Heart Blocks which will be made into quilts for Project Linus.  Knowing how busy people are I thought a block or two could be more easily, and quickly, rustled up than a quilt top.  Thankfully, people answered that call.  If you fancy making one or some please do - there is no official deadline although there will probably be a new theme for March, but anything and everything is so gratefully received.

I donated the group's first quilt a couple of weeks ago, which happens to be one that I made!  It went to a young local girl who had just had brain surgery.  With the mother's permission here are her comments and photo:

......... absolutely loves her quilt- especially the additions of Miss Sunshine and Miss Chatterbox! Thank you so very much. We have spent the last two days watching Barbie movies snuggled up under her quilt! Just perfect x

I think that smile says it all!  If anyone local fancies being involved further or just coming along for some sewing days please do comment below and I will get in touch with you. x

I think I may be a no reply blogger although I have tried hard not to be! So my email address is thelilaccat@yahoo.com
