Hello and welcome to any new visitors who have popped over here on the Cloud 9 New Block blog hop. My name is Abigail and this year it was a pleasure to be part of the 2016 New Quilt Bloggers group which has also led to this exciting opportunity.
Many thanks to Yvonne @Quilting Jetgirl, Cheryl @Meadow Mist Designs and Stephanie @Late Night Quilter for hosting this event and for Cloud 9 who generously supplied the gorgeous FQ bundle of their Organic Cirrus Solids.
I have to admit that I sat down many times to design a block and nothing happened, or something happened but it wasn't quite right. In fact I was beginning to worry that I had bitten off more than I could chew. Then at the end of August I sat down and doodled and coloured and came up with this:
Then I needed to figure out how to piece it and paper piecing seemed the logical way to go. Now, I am no expert at paper piecing but I do love the nice clean lines it gives and this is not a technically difficult block. So without further ado I give you my block - Churned to a T!

If you really don't like paper piecing but like the look of this block I did make one with regular piecing. I don't like it quite as much but I think I am going to tweak it. Let me know if you fancy a tutorial on that.
Following some of the links Yvonne gave us, I have managed to make a rudimentary mock up of what the block would look like made up into a quilt .....
Not only has the New Quilt Bloggers group and this blog hop improved my blogging and sewing skills I have learnt soooo many news things on my computer!
So here's another ....
This reminds me of an Art Deco design and is achieved with one quarter block placed on point.
Whilst I love the block made up as is I enjoyed seeing what it would look like as a mini made up in different layouts ....

Once I had tried the block a couple of times it was time for some pattern testing. A call out on IG resulted in 6 people - 2 from Jersey, 2 from England and 2 from the States - I just love how this community works!
It was so exciting seeing my design being made up by other people in other fabrics .....
